Boating, one of Florida’s most popular past times, yet unfortunately few boaters carry this extremely important insurance. Not only does it cover “your baby” in the event of physical damage but also offers liability in the event of damage to another’s property or injuries caused by you or others.

A boat policy typically covers you from damage caused by;

      • Collision
      • Sinking
      • Vandalism

Most boat policies also cover physical damage to;

      • The hull
      • Sails
      • Furnishings
      • On-board equipment
      • Boat trailer

You can also obtain liability coverage for;

      • Bodily injury or death to another person due to your negligent operation or ownership of a boat
      • Damage to another boat or dock
      • Medical payments
      • Injury to you caused by an uninsured boater

Boat Insurance Terms

Bodily Injury & Property Damage Liability (BI/PD) covers an accident that involves injury to another person or damage to another's property, up to the limit of liability you select.

Uninsured Boater pays for medical treatment, wage loss and other damages you would have received from the other person's insurance company, had they been insured. Damages are covered up to the limit of coverage you select.

Medical Payments pays the cost of necessary medical care you receive as a result of a boating accident and can be used regardless of who is at fault.

Comprehensive & Collision pays for damage to your boat if you’re involved in an accident or another covered loss, regardless of who is at fault. You only pay your deductible.

Additional Optional Coverage’s

Replacement Cost Personal Effects pays for loss of or damage to personal effects while on board an insured boat or while being carried on or off an insured boat.

On-Water Towing and Labor Coverage Service cover’s towing and labor costs. Labor costs apply only when work is performed at the time and place of disablement, while the boat is in the water.

Roadside Assistance provides towing and necessary labor at the time and place of disablement when the vehicle towing the boat or the boat trailer is disabled due to a covered event.

Fishing Equipment pays for loss or damage to fishing equipment while on board, or while being carried on or off, an insured boat.

Fuel Spill Liability is included in your BI/PD coverage.  It covers fuel or oil spills resulting in Bodily Injury or Property Damage because of an accident.  The amount of coverage is the same as your BI/PD limits.

Wreckage Removal is included in your Comp & Collision.  It pays for the raising, removal or destruction of the wreckage of the insured boat.

Water Sports coverage is included in your BI/BD.  It covers Bodily Injury or Property Damage incurred while in or while being towed by the insured boat relating to activities  such as waterskiing, knee boarding, tubing, etc.

Pet Injury covers your 4 legged loved ones when they partake in your boating activities.  This may not be offered by all carriers.
